Antonietta Collins
Antonietta Tonite Gonzalez-Collins is an American-Mexican sportscaster. She currently works as a sportscaster for ESPN in the role of anchor of SportsCenter news, as well as host of SportsNation. She was hired by ESPN in 2016. Her mother is the journalist on television Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta is bilingual since age nine. Her skills were instrumental in helping her get her first position as an assistant to the production team at Univision Miami, where she was a producer of programs including Nuestra Belleza Latina and Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud. In the following years, the CBS subsidiary located in St. Petersburg employed her as a reporter in the sport field. The journalist was employed with KNVO TV 48 Univision in Rio Grande Valley Texas. Reporters covered issues related to migration and trafficking of drugs in both Texas as well as Mexico. As an anchor, her duties on weather and sports was also frequently requested. Then she became the anchor and reporter of Univision Dallas' Deportes 23. In the following years, she was given larger responsibilities. She did pieces on Major League Baseball's ALDS ALCS and World Series the Dallas Cowboys the NBA postseason and the NBA Finals FC Dallas and the Dallas Stars. She also hosted on the regional Univision 23 sports show Accion Deportiva Extra. She became a sports host for the morning show on Despierta America Deportes. In addition, she served as anchor for sports on Primer Impacto, a magazine program on the UniMas Network and Contacto Deportivo. Antonietta Collins' grandparents were born in Veracruz Mexico. They moved at some point in Mexico City, where Antonietta Collins was born on the month of November in 1985. She's more mature than her younger sister. Her family relocated in Miami in 1992 after they left Mexico. Their divorce was soon followed in 1995. Her mother was remarried to a naval architect named Fabio Fajardo who died of kidney cancer in 2006. In the break in summer that she spent together with her sister in Canton Ohio where the older Collins girl was offered work. Antonietta was the senior of her high school, but she had a clear idea of her career goals. She visited Mount Union University in order to decide if it would be a good fit for her. It was discovered that she liked the campus, and the university offered the major she wanted. She finished her education and was admitted to the university for a master's degree in media studies. She developed a long-lasting relationship with her professor Mark Bergmann who was the manager of WRMU 91.1 FM of which she was a member. Her professor Mark Bergmann inspired her with his enthusiasm about journalism. Also, he deeply affected her.
